Goodbye
Done! I am leaving! And I do not know what to write as a conclusion out of this here. It is yet too close. I worked for 1 year in the most incredible city of the world. I worked in a company and culture where nothing that I would have expected applies, except the unexpected. It was ironically pretty exactly 10 years ago that I came to this city for the first time. My plane did a fuel stop (1 hour) on its way from Hong Kong to Zurich. Back than I had the privilege of enjoying the landing from a cockpit-seat of a Jumbojet. Not today I guess.
Anyway, on the way to the airport I am going to have a little farewell drink at "Laxmi", my favorate place for drinking and butterchicken in Mumbai. And than it is done. I will take my seat on the plane and take off. In my old room you will be able to hear its sound, as I heard it every night before sleeping. You will see the plane from our terrace. Hardly airborne it will cross Western highway, on which I used to drive home from Andheri so often. It will fly over St. Cruz Market, where I used to buy gifts and Toblerone. It will reach the Seashore near Bandra, Carter Road, where we used to brunch on Sundays and where we enjoyed coffees on with Seaview. It will bank to the North, and pass near Mahd Island, where me, Nihan, Gabi and Juliana had our "chicks on the rocks" Sunday. And shortly after, Mumbai will be gone. Once on cruising altitude, we will pass near Baroda, where my passion for India started. I hope I will sleep by than.
Breakfast will be served, when we pass near my town of birth, before finally I get back home. Well, at least to Zurich. Snowby is supposed to wait there, with a pullover. I cannot imagine how 0 degrees feel right now. I will know early enough.
